Official Dispatch No. 442/VNCERT-DPUC, issued by the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT), has been sent to various agencies, departments, and organizations, etc. regarding the urgent need to change social media account passwords in Vietnam.
Through monitoring incidents on the internet, VNCERT has recorded over 1.4 billion stolen passwords of social media and online services such as Bitcoin, Badoo, and RedBox, etc.
Among them, VNCERT has analyzed and detected 437.664 accounts with the ".vn" domain, which include 930 accounts with the "gov.vn" domain, as well as numerous accounts used by important email, corporate, and business entities in Vietnam.
Implementing Decision No. 05/2017/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister of Vietnam, VNCERT requires all units and advises users nationwide to urgently perform the following tasks:
- Check and review systems, enhance password policies, and implement multi-layered solutions.
- Change passwords for login accounts.
- Do not use the unit's email for personal account registration on social media and online platforms.
All relevant agencies, organizations, individuals, and entities are requested to strictly adhere to Official Dispatch No. 442/VNCERT-DPUC dated December 26, 2017 (the content of the Circular is being updated) to ensure safety and security.
