Additional regulations on commitment to deploy telecommunications network in Vietnam

The National Assembly of Vietnam approved Law amending the Law on Radio Frequency 2022 dated November 9, 2022.

The additional provisions on commitments to deploy telecommunications networks in Vietnam are added as follows:

- The commitment to deploying a telecommunications network in Vietnam includes the following:

(1) Total investment in the network or the number of radio stations to be deployed;

(2) Coverage by population or by geographical area;

(3) the time of official provision of telecommunications services from the time of licensing;

(4) Quality of telecommunications services;

(5) Roaming telecommunications services

- Organizations that breach the terms of their commitments to deploy telecommunications networks as specified in (1) or (2) above will have their rights to use radio frequencies in the allocated frequency bands suspended for an indefinite period of time.

The above violating organization shall not be refunded fees and charges for granting the right to use radio frequencies for the part of the radio frequencies suspended during the suspension period.

Law amending the Law on radio frequency 2022 takes effect on July 1, 2023 in Vietnam. The regulations on training and certification of radio operators take effect on July 1, 2024.
