Additional form for lawyers participating in signing legal aid contracts to submit documents in Vietnam

On May 25, 2021, the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam issued Circular 03/2021/TT-BTP amending Circular 08/2017/TT-BTP on guidelines for the Law on Legal Aid and guiding documents in legal aid activities; Circular 12/2018/TT-BTP guiding a number of legal aid and management activities the quality of legal aid cases.

According to the Circular, lawyers in Vietnam can submit 01 set of documents to the State Legal Aid Center to participate in the selection of signing a contract to provide legal aid through the following forms:

(1) Directly submit

(2) Send by postal service

(3) Send by email

Currently, Vietnam's Circular 08/2017/TT-BTP only stipulates 02 forms of application submission: direct submission or postal service, not via email.

In addition, Vietnam's Circular 03 also stipulates that if the application for participation in the selection of legal aid contracts is sent via email, the deadline for submitting the application is when the application is sent to the email address of the Center.

If the application is not sent to the center's email address within working hours, the deadline for submission is calculated from the next working day and time.

Vietnam's Circular 03/2021/TT-BTP takes effect from July 15, 2021.
