Additional codes written on health insurance cards in Vietnam 

According to the Decision, additional codes written on health insurance cards according to Decision No. 1351/QD-BHXH are as follows: 

*4 additional codes for policyholders funded by the state budget: 

- CT: Persons from 80 years old to above receiving monthly death allowances; 

- ND: Persons awarded with "People’s Artisan" and "Artisan of Merit" titles of households with an average monthly income per capita lower than the base salary according to the regulations of the Government of Vietnam.

- TG: Remarried spouses of martyrs receiving monthly allowances according to Paragraph a Clause 10 Article 16 of the Ordinance on benefits for revolutionary contributors 2020;

- AK: Persons in communes of safe zones and regions of safe zones for revolution in the resistance war against France and the US, currently having permanent residence in the mentioned locations that already have their information updated in the National Database on Population and Database on Residence and are not the insured prescribed in Clauses 1, 2, and 3 Article 12 of the Law on Health Insurance 2008. 

*2 additional codes for policyholders with premiums partly supported by the state budget: 

- HK: Persons of multidimensional poor households not subject to cases eligible for the HN code (persons of poor households not subject to the case prescribed in Paragraph a Clause 9 Article 3 of Decree No. 146/2018/ND-CP);

- DS: Ethnic minorities living in communes of areas II and III and extremely disadvantaged villages of ethnic minority areas and mountainous areas during 2016-2020 and such communes are currently not included in the list of communes of areas II and III and extremely disadvantaged villages of ethnic minority areas and mountainous areas during 2021-2025 according to decisions of the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

*1 additional code for family-based health insurance policyholders: 

TH: Dignitaries, sub-dignitaries, and clergy according to Paragraph a Clause 3 Article 5 of Decree No. 146/2018/ND-CP.

See more details in Decision No. 1697/QD-BHXH, effective as of December 3, 2023, except for the following cases: 

- Paragraphs a and g Clause 1; Paragraphs a and b Clause 2 Article 1 of Decision No. 1697/QD-BHXH dated November 27, 2023, applicable as of October 19, 2023. 

- Paragraphs c and e Clause 1 and Paragraph c Clause 4 Article 1 of Decision No. 1697/QD-BHXH dated November 27, 2023, applicable as of February 2, 2022. 

- Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 Clause 1 of Decision No. 1697/QD-BHXH dated November 27, 2023 (except for Clauses 2 and 3 Article 2 of Decision No. 1697/QD-BHXH), applicable as of December 1, 2018.
