Access with a height of 10m to the roof is required for industrial buildings in Vietnam

Below is a new content specified in Circular 02/2021/TT-BXD issued QCVN 06:2021/BXD - National technical regulation on fire protection and control for houses and constructions in Vietnam

According to Vietnam's Circular, in Appendix A, there are additional regulations on fire protection and control for industrial buildings in Vietnam, in which the layout-space of industrial buildings is implemented as follows:

  • For buildings whose height from the designed ground level to the edge or top of the roof retaining wall is greater than or equal to 10m, there must be one entrance to the roof for every 40,000m2 of roof surface area.
  • If the roof surface area is not enough at 40,000 m2, it is still necessary to arrange at least 1 way to the roof.
  • For a 1-story house, the entrance to the roof is arranged according to the open steel ladder outside.
  • For multi-storey houses, it is arranged from the stairwell.
  • For buildings whose height from the design ground level to the top floor is not more than 30m and the height of the top floor is not enough to arrange a staircase exiting to the roof, it is allowed to arrange an open steel ladder to escape from the stairwell through the roof by this ladder.

Vietnam's Circular 02/2021/TT-BXD takes effect from July 5, 2021.
