On May 4, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Decision 1062/QĐ-BCT stipulating the selling price of electricity, in which the electricity tariff for domestic use has been adjusted to 6 levels.

6-level electricity tariff for domestic use to apply from May 4, 2023 in Vietnam

Specifically, in Section 4.1 of the Appendix issued together with Decision 1062/QD-BCT, the 6-level domestic electricity tariff is specified as follows:

- Level 1: For kWh from 0 to 50: Electricity selling price is 1,728 VND/kWh (old price is 1,678 VND)

- Level 2: For kWh from 51 to 100: Electricity selling price is 1,786 VND/kWh (old price is 1,734 VND).

- Level 3: For kWh from 101 to 200: Electricity selling price is 2,074 VND/kWh (old price is 2,014 VND).

- Level 4: For kWh from 201 to 300: Electricity selling price is 2,612 VND/kWh (old price is 2,536 VND).

- Level 5: For kWh from 301 to 400: Electricity selling price is 2,919 VND/kWh (old price is 2,834 VND)

- Level 6: For kWh of 401 or more: Electricity selling price is 3,015 VND/kWh (old price was 2,927 VND)

Note: The above electricity price does not include value added tax.

In addition to adjusting the 6-tier domestic electricity tariff, Decision 1062/QD-BCT has adjusted the average retail price of electricity to be 1,920,3732 VND/kWh (excluding value-added tax).

This adjustment is equivalent to an increase of 3% compared to the previous average retail electricity price.

* According to Circular 16/2014/TT-BCT, the retail price of domestic electricity in Vietnam is applied to households using electricity for daily-life needs who have a direct electricity purchase and sale contract with the electricity seller.

Each household using electricity in a month is entitled to a domestic electricity usage norm.

The purchaser of domestic electricity that has electricity-using households sharing the same meter (determined according to the information on the residence of the household at the location of electricity use) shall apply electricity selling prices to households according to the principle that the general norm of electricity buyers is equal to the norm of each level multiplied by the number of electricity-using households sharing the same meter.

More details can be found in Decision 1062/QD-BCT effective from May 4, 2023.)
