5 Methods of Handling Wildlife from February 20, 2020

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) issued Circular 29/2019/TT-BNNPTNT stipulating the handling of wild animals as exhibits, evidence; wild animals voluntarily surrendered to the State by organizations or individuals.

Forms of Handling Wildlife as Exhibits are Carried Out in the Following Order of Priority:

- Release wildlife back into the natural environment;- Rescue wildlife;- Transfer wildlife to zoos, scientific research institutions, training and environmental education facilities, specialized museums;- Sell wildlife;- Destroy wildlife.

Note: The subsequent form of handling is only applied when the preceding form cannot be implemented.

Wildlife here refers to individual living or dead wildlife, parts or products of wildlife belonging to the List of endangered, precious, and rare species issued by the Government of Vietnam, the Appendices, and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and common wildlife species.
