2021 - 2025: At least 10,000 children with severe autism in Vietnam receive treatment and education

This is a notable content of the Decision No. 1956/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister of Vietnam on the approval of the community-based social assistance and rehabilitation program for the mentally ill, autistic children and people with mental disorders for the period of 2021-2030.

The Prime Minister of Vietnam has approved the community-based social assistance and rehabilitation program for the mentally ill, autistic children and people with mental disorders for the period of 2021-2030 with specific goals for the period of 2021-2025 as follows:

- Every year at least 80% of mentally ill people, 80% of autistic children and people with mental disorders access health services in different forms; 70% of children from birth to 6 years old are screened for early detection of autism spectrum disability and early intervention;

- At least 10,000 children with severe autism receive appropriate treatment, education, rehabilitation and support in social assistance and rehabilitation facilities;

- At least 80% of children with autism spectrum disabilities at preschool and high school age have access to education;

- At least 20,000 psychopaths and people with mental disorders receive vocational guidance and occupational therapy support at social assistance establishments; at least 10,000 households with people with mental disorders who have needs and are eligible for loans with preferential interest rates as prescribed;
