11 Items Prohibited from Being Brought into Temporary Custody and Detention Rooms

Circular 32/2017/TT-BCA issued by the Ministry of Public Security on September 19, 2017, stipulates the list of prohibited items brought into temporary detention rooms, temporary custody rooms, and the handling of violations.

There are 11 types of items prohibited from being brought into detention rooms or temporary detention rooms. Some common items include:

- Mobile phones;- Recording devices, cameras, music players, radios;- Books, newspapers, pictures with reactionary content, illegal religious propaganda materials; gambling tools;- Various kinds of paper, pens, ink;- Alcohol, beer, alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, pipe tobacco; medication for treatment or prevention (without the approval of the detention center’s healthcare);- Vietnamese currency, foreign currency, gold, silver, precious stones.

If a detained person is found bringing in, storing, or using prohibited items in the detention rooms or temporary detention rooms, they will be dealt with according to the severity and nature of the violation as per regulations.

Refer to the violation handling regulations in Circular 32/2017/TT-BCA, effective from January 1, 2018.
