This is the objective of the Scheme to enhance the control of prescription writing and dispensing prescription drugs (2017 - 2020) that has just been approved by the Ministry of Health in Decision 4041/QD-BYT.
Scheme sets forth the following objectives to strive for by 2020:
- 100% of pharmacies and drugstores selling antibiotics must have a prescription;- 100% of public healthcare facilities, private hospitals, and 80% of other private healthcare facilities must issue prescriptions with full content according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health for outpatient treatment;- 90% of public healthcare facilities, private hospitals, and 70% of other private healthcare facilities must issue prescriptions in compliance with the Ministry of Health's guidelines on the management and use of antibiotics in infectious disease treatment.
Additionally, training for both prescribers and retail pharmacists is also emphasized. Specifically:
- Training for prescribers on the guidelines for antibiotic use;- Training for retail pharmacists on the necessity of convincing patients to purchase the entire prescription and use the medication in full doses.
