To continue implementing Official Telegram 680/CD-TTg dated August 1, 2022, and to proactively monitor the monkeypox epidemic, promptly deploy epidemic prevention and control measures, and minimize the number of infections and deaths, the Department of Preventive Medicine has requested the Departments of Health of provinces and centrally run cities to direct and implement the following contents:

(1) Promote proactive surveillance at medical examination and treatment facilities, event-based surveillance in the community and at border gates (if there are border gates), integrating supervision with HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities, monitoring at gynecological and dermatology clinics, and public and private medical facilities providing HIV/AIDS prevention and control services (HIV testing, PrEP pre-exposure prophylaxis, ARV treatment) to detect disease cases, clusters of cases, and sources of infection, thereby providing consultation, care, and treatment services;

Manage disease cases and contacts to prevent further infection from spreading to the community and to prevent infection for medical staff.

HIV counseling and testing for patients and partners of patients with monkey pox.

(2) For cases suspected of having the disease, samples should be taken, contacted, and sent to the Regional Pasteur Institute/VSDT for testing and diagnosis.

(3) Organize training for medical staff at all levels on surveillance, prevention measures, care, treatment, prevention, and control of monkeypox infection.

(4) Proactively develop and update prevention and control plans and scenarios according to situations to be ready to respond when epidemics occur in the area. Prepare drugs, equipment, human resources, and funds to deploy measures to collect, treat, prevent, and control epidemics.

(5) Continue to carry out communication on measures to prevent and control the monkeypox epidemic as recommended by the Ministry of Health, focusing on communication for high-risk groups; at the same time, advise people to proactively report to health authorities when they have suspected symptoms of the disease.

(6) Timely report cases of monkeypox at the website address: https://macabenh.vncdc.gov.vn/?mod=monkey (support phone: 0387525938).
