Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 47/2020/TT-BGDĐT on selection of toys and educational resources used in early childhood education institutions.
Vietnam's Circular 47/2020/TT-BGDĐT stipulates requirements for toys used in early childhood education institutions as follows
- Toy safety: Toys must comply with the Law on Product and Goods Quality and regulations of the Ministry of Science and Technology on children’s toy safety; must meet existing regulations on technical standards of the Ministry of Education and Training; must have information on copyright and an unexpired certificate of conformity and be affixed with conformity marking as per the law; For self-made toys: use non-toxic ingredients that meet hygiene and safety requirements; and avoid recycled plastic and disposable plastic.
- Toy aesthetics: Toys shall be pleasing to the eyes and have harmonized and lively colors; have a reasonable structure and attractive appearance that kindles children’s interest; Size and weight of the toys are suitable for physical characteristics and capacity of children; toy parts must be easy to connect, assemble and arrange.
- Educational roles of toys: Toys must not have violent contents or distorted or discriminatory information concerning politics, religions, races and sexes; toy design must promote physical, cognitive and creativity development; and be appropriate to the needs and developmental characteristics of each age.
