03 Cases in Which Inmates Are Allowed Extended Time to Visit with Relatives

On February 10, 2020, the Ministry of Public Security issued Circular 14/2020/TT-BCA detailing the policies on visits, receiving gifts, and communication of inmates.

According to Circular 14, inmates are allowed to receive visits from relatives as stipulated in Clause 1, Article 52 of the Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments 2019. In specific instances listed below, inmates may be granted extended visiting hours with relatives:

- If the inmate has been classified as having good conduct or higher for at least two consecutive quarters up to the time of the visit and has maintained this classification from the most recent consecutive quarter until the visit, the visit time may be extended but not exceed 3 hours;- If the inmate has been classified as excellent for at least four consecutive quarters up to the time of the visit and has maintained this classification from the most recent consecutive quarter until the visit, and has been rewarded according to Clause 1, Article 41 of the Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments, the inmate may be allowed to meet with their spouse in a private room for more than 3 hours but not exceeding 24 hours;- ...
