The Ministry of Health issued Official Letter 1535/BYT-DP dated March 28, 2022 on vaccination against COVID-19 for children from 5 to under 12 years old.

Accordingly, in order to be ready to vaccinate and maximize the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine for children from 5 to under 12 years old, the Ministry of Health suggested that the Departments of Health of provinces and cities prepare to vaccinate children. Apply for COVID-19 prevention for children from 5 to under 12 years old as follows:

- Coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to review and make a list of injections for children going to school from grade 1 to grade 6, aged from 5 to under 12 years old. For children of this age who do not attend school, coordinate with local authorities to make a list.

- Develop a plan, prepare to be eligible for vaccination so that it can be deployed as soon as the vaccine is allocated.

- Types of vaccines used: vaccines approved by the Ministry of Health for use in this age group. Dosage and interval between injections according to the instructions of the manufacturer and the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

- Coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to organize vaccination in the form of a campaign, free of charge at fixed vaccination facilities, at mobile injection sites and schools  (for places where training is organized at schools). ). 

The organization of vaccinations shall comply with the provisions of Section III of the Guidelines for the organization of vaccination sessions against COVID-19 issued together with Decision 3588/QD-BYT  dated July 26, 2021 and Decision  43/QD-BYT  January 7, 2022.

+ Parents and guardians sign the Immunization Consent Form according to the form issued in this Official Letter.

+ Carry out pre-injection screening according to the instructions in Decision  2470/QD-BYT  dated June 14, 2019, Decision  5002/QD-BYT  dated October 29, 2021.

+ Instructions on how to monitor and care after vaccination according to the instructions in Decision 3588/QD-BYT  dated July 26, 2021.

- Implement propaganda and mobilization for people to bring children from 5 under 12 years old eligible for vaccination to actively participate in timely and complete vaccination.

In addition, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology is requested to develop guidelines for vaccination against COVID-19 for children from 5 to under 12 years old, and organize training courses for vaccination facilities nationwide.
