Quickly implement a vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Vietnam

The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Health to drastically direct the whole industry to speed up the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign that basically completes 100% of the two injections for people aged 18 and more by December 31st, 2021 in Vietnam.

This is the content of Notice 327/TB-VPCP of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the meeting on vaccines and drugs to treat COVID-19 on December 8th, 2021

The notice stated that with the fact of new and complicated developments of the epidemic in the country and in the world, it is necessary to have a thorough comprehensive assessment, basic, scientific, timely and more effective implementation of the importation, research, technology transfer, production of vaccines and drugs to treat COVID-19.

The Minister of Health and the Chairman of the People's Committees of the provinces must be responsible to the Government and the Prime Minister until December 15th, 2021, at the latest by the end of December 2021, basically 2 injections must be completed for the number of people aged from 18, especially population aged 65 and more and those with underlying medical conditions.

Specifically, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Health to drastically direct the whole sector to speed up the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Vietnam, until December 15th, 2021 (no later than December 31st, 2021), they must basically complete 100% of the 2 injections for people aged 18 and more;

In a locality that fails to accomplish this goal, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Minister of Health must be responsible to the Government and the Prime Minister of Vietnam;

At the same time, actively implement a roadmap to complete the injection for people from 12 to 18 years old as soon as possible.

In addition, the Ministry of Health is required to closely follow the delivery and vaccination schedule to ensure that there are enough vaccines for the 3rd dose for all people aged 18 and more (striving before June 2022), and at the same time step up the 3rd injection, in which priority is given to people aged 50 years and older and the frontline subjects in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Develop an injection plan for children aged 5-11 years in Vietnam

The Prime Minister assigned the Party Personnel Committee of the Ministry of Health to urgently finalize the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control master program to report to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam before reporting to the Prime Minister (before December 8th, 2021)

Specifically, the plan to ensure the vaccine against COVID-19 needs to be detailed in terms of quantity; type; age of injection; injection time; injection plan; mixing between vaccines, booster and additional injections; repeat; storage plan and attention to expiration date. At the same time, it should actively inject the 3rd dose and propose a roadmap to socialize the vaccination against COVID-19, report and consult the Politburo.

Moreover,  it needs to develop a plan to soon report to the Politburo for opinions on the injection plan (1st and 2nd shots) for children from 5 to 11 years old, which clearly shows the theoretical basis, practical basis, and solutions on the basis of science, epidemic developments in the country and practice of other countries (before December 10th, 2021), and directing drastically to thoroughly review the proposal to competent authorities for a plan to buy vaccines in 2022 and especially vaccines for children need to be contracted in December 2021.
