Ho Chi Minh City officially allows buses, taxis, and technology vehicles to operate again

On October 1, 2021, the Department of Transport of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 10399/SGTVT-KT guiding the organization Traffic organization in Ho Chi Minh City from October 1, 2021.

According to this Official Dispatch, in road passenger transport, from October 5, 2021, a number of bus routes will be organized with the frequency and duration of operation depending on the actual situation and needs of each area under the decision announced by the Department of Transport.

For passenger transport by taxi:  Each transport business unit registers a maximum number of operating vehicles not exceeding 20% ​​of the number of vehicles under management (according to the badge data registered with the Department of Transport and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City).

For passenger transport by tourist vehicle:

Each transport business unit registers the maximum number of operating vehicles not exceeding 30% of the number of vehicles under management  (according to the data of signs registered with the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City).

For passenger transportation by contract vehicle:

- Passenger transport by contract vehicles with less than 9 seats using technology application software to connect with passengers: it is allowed to register for a maximum operation of not more than 10% of the number of vehicles under management (according to the badge data registered with the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City).

- Allowing vehicles that do not use technology application software to connect with passengers to operate include :

(1) Activities in service of tourism programs organized by the Department of Tourism, People's Committees of districts and Thu Duc city;

(2) The transportation plan of the medical industry;

(3) Vehicles transporting workers and experts.

*Note:

- Vehicles registered for operation (at the request of the units) will be licensed by the Department of Transport through identification paper (with QR code) according to the instructions in Appendix 1. During operation and Based on travel demand as well as the situation of COVID-19 epidemic control, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City continues to adjust the number of vehicles to operate appropriately.

- Business services of transporting passengers by motorbikes and motorbikes: are not allowed to operate.
