The penalties for violations of regulations on the exploitation and use of meteorological and hydrological information and data from February 1, 2025 in Vietnam are stipulated in Decree 155/2024/ND-CP.

On December 10, 2024, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 155/2024/ND-CP regulating administrative sanctions in the field of meteorology and hydrology.
According to the provisions of Article 13 Decree 155/2024/ND-CP, penalties for violations of regulations on exploitation and use of meteorological and hydrological information and data in Vietnam are as follows:
- A fine from 10,000,000 VND to 15,000,000 VND for failure to update information and data up to the most recent year as of the time the work, program, plan, or socio-economic development project is approved for design.
- A fine from 15,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND for using meteorological and hydrological information and data for improper purposes.
- A fine from 20,000,000 VND to 25,000,000 VND for using meteorological and hydrological information and data provided for free for buying, selling, or exchanging activities for profit.
- A fine from 25,000,000 VND to 30,000,000 VND for one of the following violations:
+ Using meteorological and hydrological information and data without clear origin in consulting, designing, and investing in construction works and projects, except where otherwise provided by law;
+ Using meteorological and hydrological information and data not confirmed by competent authorities, organizations, or individuals in consulting, designing, and investing in construction works and projects, except where otherwise provided by law.
- Measures to remedy consequences:
+ Compulsory reporting or provision of meteorological and hydrological information and data for the violation specified in Clause 1, Article 13 Decree 155/2024/ND-CP;
+ Compulsory return of illegal gains from the execution of violations specified in Clauses 3 and 4, Article 13 Decree 155/2024/ND-CP.
Note: The fine levels specified in Chapter II of Decree 155/2024/ND-CP apply to administrative violations by individuals. For organizations committing the same violations, the fine level is twice that for individuals. (According to Clause 1, Article 5 Decree 155/2024/ND-CP)

Decree 155/2024/ND-CP repeals the contents in the following Decrees:
- Clause 2, Article 1, Chapter II, point a, Clause 2, Article 21; the phrase "meteorology and hydrology" in the title of the Decree, issuance basis, Chapter IV name, in Clause 1 and Clause 4 of Article 1, in Article 2, Clause 1, Article 3, point a, Clause 1, Article 20 of Decree 173/2013/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam regulating administrative sanctions in the field of meteorology and hydrology, surveying and mapping;
- Decree 84/2017/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam amending and supplementing several articles of Decree 173/2013/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam regulating administrative sanctions in the field of meteorology and hydrology, surveying and mapping;
- Article 3 of Decree 04/2022/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam amending and supplementing several articles of the decrees on administrative sanctions in the fields of land; water resources and minerals; meteorology and hydrology; surveying and mapping.
