According to the Law on Veterinary Medicine 2015 of Vietnam, any organization/individual producing or importing veterinary drugs shall register with the Department of Animal Health for sale. The registration process and procedures are typically carried out as follows:
The Law on Veterinary Medicine 2015 was promulgated on June 19, 2015 by the National Assembly of Vietnam, providing for the prevention, treatment and fighting against animal epidemic diseases; quarantine of animals and animal products; control of the slaughter, preparation and processing of animals and animal products; inspection of veterinary hygiene; management of veterinary drugs; veterinary practice.
According to Vietnam’s regulations, in order to be allowed to circulate veterinary drugs, organizations and individuals engaged in the production and import of veterinary drugs must submit a registration dossier for circulation to the Veterinary Department. After being granted the Certificate of Circulation, these organizations and individuals are permitted to carry out this activity. However, during the course of their operations, these organizations and individuals may have their Certificate of Circulation revoked for various reasons.
According to Vietnam’s regulations on veterinary medicine, in order for organizations and individuals to officially engage in the trade of veterinary drugs, one of the mandatory conditions is to have a Certificate of Eligibility for Veterinary Drug Trading issued by the competent state authority in accordance with the prescribed procedures. The Law on Veterinary Medicine of Vietnam takes effect from July 01, 2016. This Law consists of 7 chapters, 116 articles, meeting the requirements of administrative reform and socialization in veterinary work. The law introduces several new provisions compared to the Ordinance on Veterinary Medicine 2004.
The 13th National Assembly of Vietnam approved the Law on Veterinary Medicine at its 9th session, which serves as an important legal basis for the more effective operation of the veterinary sector in Vietnam, contributing even more to society and international integration.
According to the draft Law on Veterinary Medicine, which has recently been published for feedback from various levels and sectors and expected to be passed by the National Assembly of Vietnam in its upcoming 9th session, the following actions will be strictly prohibited.
