The Law on Road Traffic was passed by the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 12th Legislature, on November 13, 2008; effective from July 1, 2009, and replaces the Law on Road Traffic dated June 29, 2001.
To avoid unfortunate administrative penalties, vehicle operators in Vietnam must comply with the regulations on stopping and parking as stipulated in the Road Traffic Law of 2008.
The 14th National Assembly's 10th session is still ongoing with many Law Projects being discussed. One of the most debated issues among the National Assembly Delegates is whether or not to separate the Law on Road Traffic into the (revised) Law on Road Traffic and the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety Assurance?
