Vietnam: Formula for calculating the amount of pay and allowance for officials and public employees from July 01, 2018

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular No. 06/2018/TT-BNV, which guides the calculation of the amount of pay, allowance and compensating wage differential for all officials and public employees from July 01, 2018. To be specific:

1. Officials, public employees and employees working in cryptography organizations of the Communist Party agencies, regulatory bodies, and socio-political organizations

Formula for calculating amount of pay:

Formula for calculating amount of allowance calculated according to current pay plus (+) leadership allowance and extra-seniority allowance (if any):

Amount of extra-seniority allowance effective from July 1, 2018 (if any)

2. People’s Council deputies at all levels

3. Part-time workers in communes, villages and neighborhoods

The fund for allowance allocated by central budget shall be a fixed amount for each level based on the statutory pay rate VND 1,390,000 per month.

Moreover, the above formulas are also applicable to certain individuals, such as probationary officials, when calculating their contributions and benefits under the social insurance regime as regulated by the law.
