When are party members suspended from the Communist Party of Vietnam activities? (illustration)
1. Circumstance of a party member is suspended from Vietnamese Communist Party activities
According to the provisions of Article 28 of Regulation 22/QD-TW in 2021, the party must suspend party activities if falling into the following cases:
- There are signs of serious violations of party discipline that deliberately obstruct the activities of the Party Committee and the inspection of the Communist Party of Vietnam;
- Being prosecuted or detained by a competent legal agency.
2. Competence to suspend party activities with party members in Vietnam
Competence to designate party activities with party members is stipulated in Clause 2, Article 29 of Regulation 22/QD-TW in 2021 as follows:
- Party organizations shall decide to suspend the activities of the Communist Party of Vietnam as a party organization with the competence to exclude such party.
- Inspection committees at the district, county and equivalent level or above may decide to suspend the activities of the Vietnamese communist party at the level of direct subordinate commissioners and members of the party are cadres of the same level of management (at the central level is the Politburo, the Secretariat of Management) but not members of the same level when being detained or prosecuted; decisions to suspend activities at the level of direct subordinate commissioners when being prosecuted.
