What benefits will Facebook users have when the Cybersecurity Law of Vietnam takes effect?

The issuance of the Cybersecurity Law 2018 of Vietnam marks a new step for our country before the trend of Revolution 4.0. So what rights will each individual have after this important document takes effect?

According to Article 1 of the Cybersecurity Law 2018 of Vietnam, this Law provides for protection of national security and public order in cyberspace. Via regulations on prohibited acts in cybersecurity, responsibilities of agencies and organizations in protecting social safety in cyberspace, etc., this Law aims to assure that activities in cyberspace do not harm national security, public order, the lawful rights and interests of any organization or individual; prevention, discovery, and actions against violations of cybersecurity.

Specifically, when participating in activities in cyberspace, especially on Facebook, all subjects are protected and enjoy the following benefits:

- To operate in a safer cyberspace than before through the regulation of prohibited acts in Article 8, avoid factors and risks of violating reputation, honor, dignity, being defamed, slandered or having personal information stolen, fraud, property appropriation and other illegal acts.

- Be protected by a specialized force to protect network security through network security measures specified in Article 5 such as: Check and monitor network security; Respond to and fix network security incidents; Use encryption to protect network information.

- According to Article 29, children have the right to be protected, access information, participate in social activities and entertainment, personal information confidentiality and other rights in cyberspace.

- Businesses operate in a fair business environment, protected from intellectual property-related infringements or unfair competitive practices in cyberspace.

- Enjoy the State's policies on cybersecurity as prescribed in Article 3 such as encouraging and creating conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in protecting cybersecurity and handling cybersecurity threats; research and develop technology, products, services, and applications to protect network security.

- Pupils and students are educated and fostered in cybersecurity knowledge through national defense and security education subjects in schools and national defense and security training programs.
