Performing military service is both a right and a duty of every citizen. In addition to fulfilling responsibilities, each citizen also has the following rights:

1. Allowance based on current military rank in Vietnam
Specifically, according to current regulations, the military rank allowance of non-commissioned officers and active-duty soldiers is calculated by the coefficient of the current military rank allowance multiplied by the base salary. Currently, the base salary in 2021 is 1.49 million VND/month. Accordingly, the level of military rank allowance in 2021 is as follows:
- Private: Coefficient 0.4-Allowance level is: 1,490,000 VND x 0.4 = 596,000 VND/month;
- Private first class: Coefficient 0.45; Allowance level is: 1,490,000 VND x 0.45 = 670,500 VND/month;
- Corporal: Coefficient of 0.5-Allowance level is: 1,490,000 VND x 0.5 = 745,000 VND/month;
- Sergeant: Coefficient of 0.6: Allowance level is: 1,490,000 VND x 0.6 = 894,000 VND/month;
- Master Sergeant: Coefficient 0.7: Allowance level is: 1,490,000 VND x 0.7 = 1,043,000 VND/month.
2. Additional benefits when extending military service service in Vietnam
In addition to the above-mentioned military rank allowances, non-commissioned officers and soldiers serving in the army, who are decided by the Minister of National Defense of Vietnam to extend their active service time in accordance with the Law on Military Service 2015, from May On the 25th and later, an additional 250% of the current military rank allowance will be enjoyed every month. The calculation of benefits is as follows:
Allowances to be enjoyed from the 25th month onwards: = Current military rank allowance + Service extension allowance
In there:
Allowance for service time extension = Allowance for current rank multiplied by 250%
Note: This allowance does not apply to non-commissioned officers, soldiers waiting to change to professional military status, national defense workers and employees; those waiting to go to school, take the entrance exam; those studying at academies, schools inside and outside the Army; and other cases.
3. Annual vacation in Vietnam
Specifically, according to Article 3 of Decree 27/2016/ND-CP, the leave regime for non-commissioned officers and soldiers serving active duty is regulated as follows:
- Non-commissioned officers and soldiers on active duty take annual leave beginning with the 13th month; the rest period is 10 days (excluding departure and return days).

Non-commissioned officers and soldiers have taken annual leave according to the regime. If the family suffers a natural disaster, a severe fire, or a loved one dies, is missing, or a non-commissioned officer or soldier has made particularly outstanding achievements in performing On duty, they are entitled to a special leave of not more than 5 days (not counting the days of departure and return);

To be paid according to current regulations for train, car, and travel allowance.
4. Other allowances
According to Article 7 of Decree 27/2016/ND-CP, non-commissioned officers and soldiers are entitled to:
- One-time demobilization allowance: For each year of service in the Army, non-commissioned officers and soldiers are entitled to an allowance equal to two months' base salary at the time of demobilization. Serving in active service from the 25th to less than 30 months is entitled to an additional 01-month allowance for the current military rank; Serving in the army for full 30 months is entitled to an additional 02 months of current military rank allowance;
- Job search allowance: The allowance is equal to six months' base salary at the time of demobilization.
- When discharged from the army, they will be seen off by the unit and taken back to the locality where they live, or be provided with train, car, and travel allowances.
5. Support for vocational training and job search:
Specifically, according to Article 8 of Vietnam's Decree 27/2016/ND-CP, non-commissioned officers and soldiers are entitled to:
- To be admitted to continue studying at schools where they are studying or have a call-up letter before enlistment;

If there is a need for vocational training and they meet the conditions, they will be supported with vocational training;

To be accepted to work, they must arrange jobs at the place where they were working before enlistment. Guaranteed income, salary, wages...

Non-commissioned officers and soldiers discharged from the army when returning to their respective localities are given priority in job placement and added points in enrollment and recruitment of civil servants and public employees; During the probationary period, they are entitled to 100% of the salary and allowances of the recruitment rank corresponding to their training level.
6. Exempt from fee of cash/parcel delivery
According to Article 5 of Vietnam's Decree 27/2016/ND-CP, non-commissioned officers and active duty soldiers can:
- Free freight when transferring money, parcels, or parcels; is granted 04 postage stamps/month, postage stamp price as prescribed by the Ministry of Information and Communications; and is granted the same period of monthly military rank allowance;

When participating in enrollment, priority points are added;

If a student borrows money from the Bank for Social Policies before joining the army as a member of a poor household, he/she will be entitled to a temporary delay in payment and no interest will be charged during his/her military service.
7. Regime for the family members of non-commissioned officers and active-duty soldiers
According to Article 6 of Vietnam's Decree 27/2016/ND-CP, the regimes and policies for relatives of non-commissioned officers and active-duty soldiers are as follows:
- Housing in accidents, fires, or natural disasters leading to collapse or damage: Subsidies of VND 3 million/rate/time;

Relatives who are sick for 1 month or more or are treated once at the hospital for 7 days or more 500,000 VND/relative/time allowance;

Relatives are dead or missing: allowance of 02 million VND/person;
-
Legally adopted or biological children: tuition fee exemption or reduction.
