This content is mentioned at the Official Dispatch No. 6030/BYT-DP dated July 27, 2021 guiding 02 doses injection of vaccines against Covid-19.
In order to deploy vaccination safely, increase coverage and maximize the effectiveness of vaccines from different sources, according to the experience of using vaccines in some countries and recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO); the Health Ministry of Vietnam advises as follows:
- People who have had 1 dose of any vaccine should get the 2nd dose of that vaccine.
- In case of limited vaccine resources, it is possible to combine by injecting 2 doses of vaccines manufactured by Pfizer to the person who received the 1st dose of vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca if the vaccinated person agrees, the interval between 2 injections is 8-12 weeks.
Do not use vaccines manufactured by Moderna or other vaccines for the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine.
- People who have received the first dose of the vaccine manufactured by Sinopharm, Pfizer, and Moderna, the second dose can only be the same vaccine. The interval between 2 injections is according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology Project - National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology develops vaccination guidelines for each type of vaccine; organize training, guiding vaccination practice and monitor adverse events after vaccination when implementing vaccination.
- Hospitals and units under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam; The Departments of Health of the central-affiliated provinces and cities shall direct the Centers for Disease Control, the district-level Health Centers, and the vaccination establishments to make vaccination plans in accordance with the number of vaccines provided and the target vaccination to ensure adequate, safe, timely and covered vaccination.
The Ministry of Health of Vietnam will continue to monitor, update information and guide vaccination implementation when necessary.
