Vietnam: 09 cases suspended from AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccination

Recently, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Decision 1624/QD-BYT on AstraZeneca's provisional guidelines for pre-vaccination screening for COVID-19 vaccine.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam notes the following 09 cases suspended from AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccination:

(1) The person suffering from an acute illness.

(2) Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding

(3) People with a weakened immune system, advanced cancer, or decompensated cirrhosis

(4) People receiving high-dose corticosteroid therapy (equivalent to prednisolone 2 mg/kg/day for 7 days) or chemotherapy or radiotherapy within the previous 14 days.

(5) Having received immunoglobulin or plasma treatment for Covid-19 patients within the previous 90 days.

(6) Other vaccinations administered within the previous 14 days

(7) Having had COVID-19 within the last six months.

(8) People over the age of 65

(9) Having thrombocytopenia and/or coagulopathy (9th)

At the same time, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam also emphasized that the following subjects must be carefully screened and vaccinated in hospitals:

- People with a history of allergies to other allergens.

- People with serious underlying diseases or chronic diseases that have not been treated stably.

- Loss of consciousness, loss of behavioral capacity

- People with chronic diseases have found abnormal vital signs.

+ Pulse: 60 to 100 beats per minute

+ Blood pressure:

  • Minimum blood pressure < 60 mmHg or > 90 mmHg

  •  

    Maximum blood pressure < 90 mmHg or > 14 mmHg

+ Respiratory rate > 25 breaths per minute and/or SpO2 94% (if applicable)

According to the Guidelines of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, subjects eligible for vaccination are people aged 18 years or older who are not hypersensitive to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients listed in the vaccine's composition.

AstraZeneca's temporary guidance on pre-vaccination screening for Covid-19 vaccine was issued together with  Vietnam's Decision 1624/QD-BYT effective from March 18, 2021 and is applicable to all public and private medical examination and treatment facilities and vaccination facilities across the country.
