NEW: Only need to test negative before entering Vietnam

The Ministry of Health has just issued Official Letter 1265/BYT-DP on COVID-19 prevention and control for people on entry. Accordingly, people entering Vietnam only need to test negative for COVID-19 before exiting, when entering, they only need to make a medical declaration, do not need to be tested again, and do not need to be isolated.

Specifically, the requirements on epidemic prevention and control for people entering Vietnam are as follows:

1. Requirements for COVID-19 testing

1.1 For people entering by air

Must have a negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 (except for children under 2 years old) before departure:

+ Within 72 hours if using RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method;

+ Within 24 hours if using rapid antigen test method with SARS-CoV-2 virus

And certified by the competent authority of the country performing the test.

1.2 For people entering by other routes (road, waterway, railway)

- Must have the same test as for entry by air.

- In case there is no negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 as prescribed above, the SARS-CoV-2 test must be performed within the first 24 hours (by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method or rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 virus) since entry:

+ If the test results are negative, they are allowed to leave the place of residence and implement epidemic prevention measures as prescribed.

+ If the test result is positive, it must be reported immediately to the local health agency for instructions on timely handling.

Note : Children under 2 years old who are not required to be tested for SARS-CoV-2, have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have never been infected with SARS-CoV-2 are allowed to enter and participate in activities outside. accommodation with parents, relatives.

Thus, according to the new guidance of the Ministry of Health, people on entry only need to test negative for COVID-19 before exiting and do not need to be tested again upon entry.

2. Medical declaration must be made before entry

- People on entry must make a medical declaration before entering and use the medical declaration application (PC-COVID) during their stay in Vietnam according to regulations.

- At the border gate if you have symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection (fever; cough; sore throat; runny nose, stuffy nose; body aches, fatigue, chills; decrease or loss of taste; decrease or loss of smell); pain, headache; diarrhea; difficulty breathing; respiratory infection...) immediately report to the health agency at the border gate for medical measures as prescribed.

3. Monitor health and apply preventive measures against COVID-19

- Within 10 days from the date of entry: self-monitor health, if there are symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection (fever; cough; sore throat; runny nose, stuffy nose; body aches, fatigue) , chills; decrease or loss of taste; decrease or loss of sense of smell; pain, headache; diarrhea; difficulty breathing; respiratory inflammation...) must immediately notify the nearest medical facility for directions. timely lead and management;

- Take preventive measures: regularly wear a mask, disinfect hands with an antiseptic solution.

- For people who have not tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 before leaving the country : during the process of moving from the entry border to the place of residence, stop and park along the way; Avoid close contact with people around.

Official Dispatch 1265/BYT-DP was issued on March 15, 2022 and replaces the following documents:

+ Official Letter 10688/BYT-MT dated December 16, 2021;

+ Official Letter 10943/BYT-MT dated December 24, 2021;

+ Decision 2553/QD-BYT dated June 18, 2020;

+ Official Letter 429/BYT-MT dated January 26, 2022.
