OFFICIAL: From April 15, 2018, Facebook must have at least 1 domain name system server in Vietnam

On March 01, 2018, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree No. 27/2018/NĐ-CP on amendments to Decree No. 72/2013/NĐ-CP on management, provision and use of internet services and online information.

According to regulations on conditions for technical aspects of news websites and social networking sites of Decree No. 27/2018/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, there is a notable regulation of Point e Clause 1 Article 23c, specifically as follows:

e. Have at least 1 domain name system (DNS) server in Vietnam, facilitating the prompt inspection, storing, and supply of information in the whole of website or social networking site owned by the organization or enterprise …

According to the above regulation, from the effective date of this Decree, social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. must ensure to have at least 1 domain name system (DNS) server in Vietnam if they want to operate in Vietnam.

Decree No. 27/2018/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government takes effect from April 15, 2018.
