Mobilizing qualified private medical units to participate in testing for SARS-CoV-2 in Vietnam

According to the Official Dispatch No. 4109/BYT-DP, implement the Prime Minister's direction on strengthening testing of suspected cases, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam - Standing National Steering Committee proposes the People's Committee of the province to implement the following activities:

1. The People's Committees of provinces and central-affiliated cities continue to direct affiliated units inside and outside the health sector to invest in equipment, facilities, human resources and biological products for local laboratories to ensure on-site diagnostic testing for SAR-CoV-2; at the same time ready to support other localities to carry out testing.

2. Testing for SARS-CoV-2 is conducted as follows:

- According to the instructions in the Plan on testing and detecting SARS-CoV-2 infection during the COVID-19 epidemic period, issued together with Decision No. 2245/QD-BYT dated April 22, 2020 of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.

- Qualified units must perform testing without waiting for the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute to evaluate and appraise.

- Units that want to perform confirmatory tests should contact the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Pasteur Institute for evaluation and confirmation.

- Laboratories that have been confirmed by the Ministry of Health or the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institute to have testing capacity, do not need to send samples to other laboratories for confirmation in case of positive results.

3. Direct the medical units in the area under their management to coordinate with the medical units at the central level and other ministries and branches to take samples and conduct testing for SARS-CoV-2. Mobilize private medical units capable of testing to conduct testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
