Military service is a glorious duty of citizens serving in the People's Army. Performing military service includes active duty service and service in the reserve ranks of the People's Army.

Citizens who fully meet the standards of age, politics, health, and culture as prescribed in Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQPare called up for military service as prescribed, except in cases of being temporarily suspended, exempted, or recognized to complete active military service in peacetime as prescribed.

Military service health requirements in Vietnam 2023

According to the provisions of Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP, the military service health requirements in Vietnam in 2023 are specified as follows:

- Draft citizens with health type 1, 2, 3 as specified in Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016 of the Minister of Health – the Minister of National Defense on provisions for pre-enlistment check-up.

- Drafting for agencies, units and positions specified in Point b Clause 2 of this Article must ensure separate standards as regulated by the Ministry of National Defense.

- Do not conscript citizens with health type 3 and eye disorders (1.5 dioptre myopia or higher, hypermetropia at all degrees); drug addicts, those contracted with HIV, AIDS.

On the other hand, at Point a, Clause 1, Article 41 of the Law on Military Service 2015, citizens who are not healthy enough to serve in the army according to the conclusions of the Medical Examination Council according to the above provisions, may be temporarily called up for enlistment.

Military service health classifications in Vietnam 2023

According to the provisions of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, military service medical examination means the examination, classification, and conclusion of health for citizens called up for military service who have undergone pre-qualification and citizens registered to take the military entrance exam; by the District Military Service Health Examination Council.

There will be 8 military service health examination indicators. For each criterion, after examining the doctor, give an even score from 1 to 6 in the "Score" column, specifically:

- Score 1: indicates very good health;

- Score 2: Indicates good health;

- Score 3: Indicates good health;

- Score 4: Indicates average health status;

- Score 5: Indicates poor health;

- Score 6: Indicates very poor health.

Based on the scores for 8 criteria recorded in the military service health card mentioned above to classify the health of citizens, specifically as follows:

- Category 1: 8 indicators all achieved 1 point;

- Category 2: There is at least 1 indicator with 2 points;

- Category 3: There is at least 1 indicator with 3 points;

- Category 4: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 4;

- Category 5: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 5;

- Category 6: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 6.

What does the military service medical examination in Vietnam in 2023 include?

According to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 4 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, the content of the health check

- Physical examination;

- Taking pulse, blood pressure;

- Examining and detecting diseases of internal medicine, surgery, and specialties.

- Taking personal and family medical histories.

Medical examination process for military service in Vietnam 2023

- Based on the local military reserve training plan, make a list of subjects summoned to participate in reserve mobilization training in the area assigned to manage;

- Announce the time and place of the health check.

- Prepare a health check sheet for military service according to regulations.

- Organize health checks according to the above contents.

- Summarize, make statistics, and report the results of the health check as prescribed.
