Instructions for individuals to set up electronic identity accounts in Vietnam
Register for an e-identity account in Vietnam
The creation of an individual's electronic identity account to carry out administrative procedures in the electronic environment must use the electronic identity provided by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. According to the regulations, the registration of an electronic identity account is done as follows:
- Individuals aged full 14 years or older register for an e-identification account through an e-identification application.
- Information to be declared is done on electronic devices when an individual register for an electronic identity account, including:
Personal identification number; passport number or valid international travel document (for foreigners);
- Last name, middle name and first name;
- Date of birth;
- Sex;
- Nationality (for foreigners);
- Phone number, email;
Note:
- For individuals under the age of 14, register under the electronic identity account of their father, mother or guardian.
- For other wards, register under the guardian's electronic identity account.
- In case of registration for a person under the age of 14, a person who has lost his/her civil act capacity, or a person with difficulties in perception and behavior control, additional information shall be declared as above.
Activation of eID account in Vietnam
** E-ID account activation Level 1:
- When a Vietnamese citizen registers an electronic identity account, the electronic identification and authentication system automatically compares and contrasts the declared citizen information with the information in the National Database of Citizens. If there is a match, create a Level 1 electronic identity account and send an account activation request to the registrant via the registered phone number or email;
The registrant performs the activation required by the Electronic Identification and Authentication System.
- When foreigners register for an electronic identity account, the electronic identification and authentication system automatically compares and contrasts the declared foreigner information with the information in the National Database on Export on entry, if there is a match, create a Level 1 electronic identity account and send an account activation request to the registrant via the registered phone number or email;
The registrant performs the activation required by the Electronic Identification and Authentication System.
** Activate eID account Level 2:
- When Vietnamese citizens register for an electronic identity account, the electronic identification and authentication system automatically compares and contrasts the information registrants declare with information in the National Population Database and compare, compare with the registrant's portrait or fingerprint, and if it matches, creates a Level 2 electronic identity account and send an account activation request to the registrant via the phone number or registered email;
The registrant performs the activation required by the Electronic Identification and Authentication System;
- When foreigners register for an electronic identification account, the electronic identification and authentication system automatically compares and contrasts the information registrants declare with the information in the National Immigration Database and compare and contrast with the registrant's portrait or fingerprint, if it matches, create a Level 2 electronic identity account and send an account activation request to the registrant via phone number or registered email;
The registrant performs the activation required by the Electronic Identification and Authentication System of Vietnam.
Level 1: An account is created in case the declared citizen's information has been automatically compared and matched with the information in the National Population Database. An account is created in case the foreigner's information has been compared and matched with the information in the National Immigration Database, except for portraits and fingerprints;
Level 2: An account is created in case the information of the declarant has been verified by a portrait or fingerprint that matches the information in the National Population Database, the National Population Database. National Identity Card or National Immigration Database.
