In Vietnam, corruption-related criminal must compensate before being considered for amnesty as prescribed in Decision 766/2022/QD-CTN about amnesty in 2022.

According to the Law in Vietnam, the offender commiting corruption-related crimes who are serving a definite prison term, of sentenced to life imprisonment which have been reduced to imprisonment with a definite term may be offered amnesty upon completion of their obligations in paying compensation for the property and damage, and other civil obligations.

Corruption-related crimes include:

- Embezzlement.

- Taking bribes.

- Abuse of power or position for appropriation of property.

- Abuse of power or position in performance of official duties.

- Acting beyond authority in performance of official duties.

- Abuse of power or position to influence another person for personal gain.

- Commission of fraud in performance of duties.
