Conditions for international tourists to Vietnam

International travelers to Vietnam need to meet medical conditions according to Guideline 4122/HD-BVHTTDL dated 5/11/2021 on pilot welcome tourists international calendar to Vietnam.

Specifically, international tourists to Vietnam are foreigners, Vietnamese residing abroad coming from Vietnam's key and potential tourism markets, meeting the conditions on entry and exit and the following medical conditions:

(1) Having a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 recognized by a competent authority in Vietnam (not applicable to children under 12 years of age accompanied by parents or guardians). The duration of injection of the 2nd or 1st dose (for the 1 dose vaccine) is valid for 14 days and not more than 12 months from the time of departure.

Or have a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 or equivalent documents certifying that they have recovered from the disease, issued by a competent authority in the country of treatment and recognized by Vietnam. The time from the time of discharge from the hospital to the time of departure must not exceed 6 months.

(2) Having negative results for SARS-CoV-2 test by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours before departure and certified by the competent authority of the country conducting the test (from the time of sampling).

(3) Have medical or travel insurance that covers treatment for COVID-19 with a minimum liability of $50,000.

(4) Participating in a package tour program of a travel agency.

Tourists select and register to participate in travel programs of international travel agencies providing services in the pilot phase (tourist programs clearly specify flight information, accommodation facilities, sightseeing services, entertainment and program time).

The tour operator informs tourists about the necessary procedures when applying for a tour program.

Note:

- Itinerary is designed in the area and local authorized service facilities, with a maximum duration of 90 days.

- After completing the tour program (minimum 7 days), if you want to stay in Vietnam to visit relatives, you must register in advance with the travel agency to support the procedure of handing over guests to the locality where they visit and carry out medical supervision according to current regulations.

The pilot route to welcome international tourists includes 3 stages:

Stage 1 (from November 2021):

Piloting international arrivals under package tours, charter flights and international trade in selected areas and tourist service establishments in Phu Quoc city (Kien Giang), Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ninh (The list of areas and service providers that are welcome to welcome international tourists is selected and publicly announced by localities).

Stage 2 (from January 2022):

Expand the reach of international tourists, connecting destinations through regular international commercial and charter flights.

Guests can participate in tourism programs combining destinations in 05 localities in phase 1 (can add some other localities if they meet the conditions and have a proposal to welcome international tourists)  after the tourist has completed the tour program at the first destination within a period of 7 days.

Stage 3:

Fully reopening to the international tourist market. The starting time of phase 3 will be based on the actual epidemic situation and on the evaluation of the results of welcoming international tourists in the first two phases.
