1. Military service medical examination schedule for the 2022 army recruitment in Vietnam

According to Clause 4, Article 40 of the Law on Military Service of Vietnam, the time for medical examination is from November 1 to the end of December 31 every year. The time for medical examination to call citizens to enlist in the army and perform the obligation to join the People's Police for the second time in case of necessity for reasons of national defense and security shall be decided by the Prime Minister.

Therefore, the time for the military service medical examination for the 2022 army recruitment will take place from November 1, 2021 to the end of December 31, 2021. And the localities based on the actual situation in their localities to arrange medical examination for military service. In case a citizen is called up for the second time in 2022, the time of the second medical examination will be decided by the Prime Minister.

2. Failure to attend the military service examination as ordered may result in fines

Upon receiving the call for a medical examination for military service from the commander of the district-level military command, citizens are obliged to be present at the time and place for medical examination stated in the medical examination call to perform their obligations. military service.

If they are not present for medical examination for military service, citizens may be fined from VND 800,000 to VND 1,200,000 according to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 6 of Decree No.120/2013/NĐ-CP of Vietnam have the following valid reasons:

- Persons who must perform pre-qualification for military service; medical examination or medical examination when performing military service; medical examination to select reserve officers; obey orders to enlist; call to train reserve officers; orders to concentrate on training, drills, and tests on readiness to mobilize, to be ready to fight (hereinafter referred to as military servicemen) but falls ill or has an accident or illness on the way.

- Relatives of a person performing military service include his/her biological father and mother; father, mother-in-law or father, mother-in-law; legal custodians; wife or husband; their natural or legally adopted children are seriously ill.

- Relatives of a person performing military service include his/her biological father and mother; father, mother-in-law or father, mother-in-law; legal custodians; wife or husband; The natural or legally adopted child dies but the funeral has not been held.

- The house of the person performing the military service or the house of the relatives of the person performing the military service is located in an area affected by natural disasters, epidemics, and fires.

- The person performing the military service does not receive the call for pre-qualification for military service; medical examination or medical examination when performing military service; medical examination to select reserve officers; call for enlistment; call to train reserve officers; calls to focus on training, drills, and tests of readiness to mobilize and fight due to the fault of the responsible person or agency or because the behavior of others causes difficulties or obstacles, specifically:

+ Failure to notify or notify late of documents related to the performance of responsibilities and obligations.

+ Using words or actions to prevent or threaten materially or spiritually towards the person in charge of performing the duty with respect to military service registration, military service pre-qualification, medical examination for the performance of the service; military, execute the call to enlist.

If they have been administratively sanctioned but continue to commit violations, they may be examined for penal liability for the crime of evading military service with a penalty of up to 5 years in prison (according to Article 332 of the Penal Code). 2015 ).

3. Time to enlist in the army in 2022

Article 33 of the Law on Military Service stipulates that every year, citizens are called up to join the army and perform the obligation to join the People's Police once in February or March; if it is necessary for reasons of national defense and security, they may call up citizens to join the army and perform the obligation to join the People's Police for the second time.

For localities with disasters or dangerous epidemics, the time to call up the army and perform the obligation to join the People's Police may be adjusted.

Therefore, the time to call for enlistment in 2022 is around February or March 2022.

4. Age of enlistment in Vietnam

Article 30 of the Law on Military Service of Vietnam stipulates that citizens who are full 18 years old can be called up to join the army:

- The age for enlistment is from full 18 years old to the end of 25 years old;

- Citizens who have been trained at the college or university level and have been temporarily suspended from calling for military service during a training course of one training level may be recruited and called up to enlist until the end of 27 years of age.

5. Standards of recruitment in Vietnam

According to Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP stipulating the recruitment criteria as follows:

(1) Age: same as above mentioned enlistment age

(2) Political criteria:

- Comply with Joint Circular 50/2016/TTLT-BQP-BCA dated April 15, 2016.

- For agencies, units and privileged positions in the Army; the army of soldiers, rituals; The professional Guards and Military Control forces are selected according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam

(3) Health standards:

- Selection of citizens with health grade 1, 2, 3 according to the provisions of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016.

- For agencies, units, important and secret positions in the Army; the army of soldiers, rituals; professional military guard and control force, selected to ensure its own standards according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.

Note: Do not call for enlistment into the Army for citizens who have type 3 refractive errors in their eyes (nearsightedness of 1.5 diopters or more, farsightedness of various degrees); drug addiction, HIV infection, AIDS.

(4) Cultural standards:

- Recruiting and calling up citizens with a grade 8 or higher level of education, taken from high to low.

In difficult localities that do not meet the quota for military assignment, they shall report to the competent authorities for consideration and decision to select the number of citizens with 7th grade education.

- Communes in deep-lying areas, remote areas, areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions as prescribed by law; Ethnic minorities with less than 10,000 people may recruit no more than 25% of citizens with primary school education, the rest are lower secondary school or higher.

6.Cases of temporary postponement of enlistment and exemption from enlistment in Vietnam

Pursuant to Article 41 of the Law on Military Service of Vietnam and Article 5 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP stipulates:

* Postponing military service for the following citizens:

- Not healthy enough to serve in the army according to the conclusion of the Health Examination Council;

- Being the only employee who has to directly take care of relatives who are no longer able to work or have not yet reached working age; in the family suffers heavy loss of life and property due to accidents, natural disasters, dangerous epidemics, certified by the commune-level People's Committees;

- A child of a sick soldier or person infected with Agent Orange has a decrease in working capacity from 61% to 80%;

- Having a brother, sister or younger brother who is a non-commissioned officer or soldier currently serving in the army; non-commissioned officers and soldiers performing the obligation to join the People's Police.

- Persons who are subject to emigration or relocation in the first 3 years to communes with special difficulties under the State's socio-economic development projects decided by the People's Committees of provinces or higher;

- Cadres, civil servants, public employees and young volunteers may be assigned to work or work in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions as prescribed by law.

- Studying at a general education institution; are being trained at the university level of the regular system of the higher education institution, the college level of the regular system of the vocational education institution during a training course of a training degree.

- Standing militia.

Note: Citizens subject to temporary postponement of enlistment according to the above provisions, if there is no longer a reason for the postponement, they will be called to join the army.

* Exemption from enlistment for the following citizens:

- Children of martyrs, children of first-class wounded soldiers;

- A brother or a brother of the martyr.

- A child of a second-class wounded soldier; one child of a sick soldier with a working capacity decrease of 81% or more; one child of a person infected with Agent Orange has a working capacity decrease of 81% or more;

- Persons doing cipher work are not soldiers or People's Public Security.

- Cadres, civil servants, public employees and young volunteers may be assigned to work or work in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions as prescribed by law for 24 months or more.

(Citizens who are temporarily postponed or are exempted from calling for military service according to the above provisions are considered for selection and called for military service if they so desire).

7. Time limit for performing military service in Vietnam 

Article 21 of the Law on Military Service stipulates that the time limit for non-commissioned officers and soldiers to serve in the army in peacetime is 24 months.

The Minister of National Defense of Vietnam may decide to extend the active service period of non-commissioned officers and soldiers for no more than 6 months in the following cases:

- To ensure combat readiness;

- Performing the task of preventing and combating natural disasters, epidemics, rescue and rescue.

The service term of non-commissioned officers and soldiers in a state of war or a state of national defense emergency shall comply with the order of general mobilization or local mobilization.

8. Benefits received during military service and demobilization in Vietnam
