1. Regulations on rank insignia of the Vietnam Coast Guard

According to the provisions of Article 12 of Decree 61/2019/ND-CP, the rank insignia of the Vietnam Coast Guard is a symbol that reflects the rank of officers, professional soldiers, cadets, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard worn on the shoulder epaulets.

The basic structure of the rank insignia includes: Base, border, rank insignia button, stars, and bars (for officers, professional soldiers), stripes (for non-commissioned officers and soldiers).

* Rank insignia of officers of the Vietnam Coast Guard

- Shape: Two small end edges and two longitudinal edges;

- The rank insignia base is blue; the base for general officers has imprinted patterns of a dong drum, with the center of the drum at the position of the rank insignia button;

- The rank insignia border is yellow;

- On the rank insignia base: Yellow rank insignia button, bars, and stars.

The rank insignia button is round, embossed with a pattern (the emblem for generals; two ears of rice surrounding a yellow five-pointed star for colonels and junior officers). Generals' rank insignia have no horizontal bars, colonels have two horizontal bars, junior officers have one horizontal bar, the number of stars:

+ Second Lieutenant, Major, Major General: 01 star;

+ First Lieutenant, Lieutenant Colonel, Lieutenant General: 02 stars;

+ Captain, Colonel: 03 stars;

+ Senior Lieutenant, Senior Colonel: 04 stars.

* Rank insignia of professional soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard

The same regulations as for the rank insignia of officers of the Vietnam Coast Guard as mentioned above, but the rank insignia base has a 5 mm wide pink stripe in the middle running vertically.

* Rank insignia of non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard

- Shape: Two small end edges and two longitudinal edges;

- The rank insignia base is blue;

- The rank insignia border is yellow;

- On the rank insignia base: Yellow rank insignia button, horizontal or V-shaped stripes.

The rank insignia button is embossed with a pattern of two ears of rice surrounding a yellow five-pointed star, the number of horizontal or V-shaped stripes:

+ Private: 01 V-shaped stripe;

+ Private First Class: 02 V-shaped stripes;

+ Corporal: 01 horizontal stripe;

+ Sergeant: 02 horizontal stripes;

+ Senior Sergeant: 03 horizontal stripes.

* Rank insignia of cadets training to become officers, non-commissioned officers, and technical specialist staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard

- Shape: Two small end edges and two longitudinal edges;

- The rank insignia base is blue;

- The rank insignia border is yellow. Cadets training to become officers have a 5 mm wide border; cadets training to become non-commissioned officers and technical specialist staff have a 3 mm wide border;

- On the rank insignia base: rank insignia button.

The rank insignia button is embossed with a pattern of two ears of rice surrounding a yellow five-pointed star.

2. Regulations on the emblems of the Vietnam Coast Guard

* Base and emblem shapes worn on the collar lapel

- The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a yellow Vietnam Coast Guard emblem; the general officers' emblem base has a 5 mm wide yellow border on three sides;

- The Vietnam Coast Guard emblem is yellow, shield-shaped, crossed by two swords, with an anchor inside, a yellow ear of rice below, and a yellow five-pointed star on top.

* Yellow pine branch on formal attire collar lapels and two sides of the rank insignia

- Single pine branch for general officers;

- Single pine branch for colonels and junior officers.

3. Combined emblem and rank insignia of the Vietnam Coast Guard

The combined emblem and rank insignia of the Vietnam Coast Guard worn on the collar lapels of combat uniforms have the basic structure specified in Article 17 of Decree 61/2019/ND-CP, including:

emblem base, emblem symbol, stars, bars (for officers, professional soldiers, cadets), stripes (for non-commissioned officers); generals have no bars and soldiers have no stripes.

* Generals

The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a 5 mm wide yellow border on three sides, with a emblem symbol and yellow five-pointed stars. Number of stars:

- Major General: 01 star;

- Lieutenant General: 02 stars.

* Officers

The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a emblem symbol, five-pointed stars, yellow vertical bars; the number of stars is the same as the rank insignia of officers specified in section 1 above; the number of vertical bars: Colonels have two vertical bars, junior officers have one vertical bar.

* Professional Soldiers

The combined emblem and rank insignia of Professional Soldiers are like the combined emblem and rank insignia of officers as mentioned above.

* Non-commissioned officers and soldiers

- Non-commissioned officers: The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a emblem symbol, yellow five-pointed stars, and a 3 mm wide bright yellow thread vertical stripe. Number of stars:

+ Corporal: 01 star;

+ Sergeant: 02 stars;

+ Senior Sergeant: 03 stars.

- Soldiers: The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a emblem symbol and yellow five-pointed star, number of stars:

+ Private: 01 star;

+ Private First Class: 02 stars.

* Cadets

- Cadets training to become officers: The combined emblem and rank insignia of cadets training to become officers are like the combined emblem and rank insignia of officers as mentioned above;

- Cadets training to become officers: The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a emblem symbol, with a 5 mm wide bright yellow thread vertical stripe, no stars;

- Cadets training to become non-commissioned officers and technical specialist staff: The emblem base is a blue rhombus with a emblem symbol, with a 3 mm wide bright yellow thread vertical stripe, no stars.
