1. Who are procurators?

According to Article 74 of the Law on Organization of People’s Procuracies 2014, procurators are persons who are appointed in accordance with law to perform the function of exercising the power to prosecute and supervise judicial activities.

2. General criteria for procurators in Vietnam

According to Article 75 of the Law on Organization of People’s Procuracies 2014, general criteria of procurators are as follows:

- Being Vietnamese citizens who are loyal to the Fatherland and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, have good ethical qualities, are incorrupt and honest, have firm political stance and resolve to safeguard the socialist legislation.

- Possessing a bachelor or higher degree in law.

- Having been professionally trained in prosecution.

- Having been engaged in practical work for a certain period of time in accordance with this Law.

- Being physically fit to fulfill assigned duties.

3. Procurator ranks in Vietnam

According to Article 76 of the Law on Organization of People’s Procuracies 2014, which stipulates the rank of procurator as follows:

- Ranks of procurators of people’s procuracies include:

+ Procurators of the Supreme People’s Procuracy;

+ High-level procurators;

+ Intermediate-level procurators;

+ Primary-level procurators.

- The Supreme People’s Procuracy has procurators of four ranks. The Central Military Procuracy has its Chief Procurator being a procurator of the Supreme People’s Procuracy and high-level, intermediate-level and primary-level procurators. Other procuracies have high- level, intermediate-level and primary-level procurators.

4. Payroll of procurators in 2023

4.1. Payroll of the Procurator from January 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023

According to the professional payroll in respect of the Court and Procurator issued together with Resolution 730/2004/NQ-UBTVQH11 and the base salary of VND 1,490,000 in Clause 2 and Article 3 of Decree 38/2019/ND-CP, the Payroll of the Procurator from January 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023, is as follows:

4.2. Payroll of the Procurator from July 1, 2023 in Vietnam

The National Assembly approved a resolution on the state budget estimate on 11/11/2022, in which the base salary will increase to 1,800,000 VND/month.

Thus, the salary of the Prosecutor will change as of July 1, 2023, specifically as follows:
