“XE TAXI” (“TAXI”) badge is specified in Circular No. 12/2020/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam on organization and management of auto transport operations and supporting services for road transport, effective from July 15, 2020.
According to Point a Clause 1 Article 6 of Decree No. 10/2020/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government: “Automobiles used for taxi business shall have the “XE TAXI” (“TAXI”) signage affixed beneath the front windscreen on the right-hand side and have all required information affixed on their bodies”.
Badge attached to a taxi is specified in Circular No. 12/2020/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam elaborating Decree No. 10/2020/NĐ-CP, specifically as follows:
- Design of the “XE TAXI” (“TAXI”) badge is given in the Appendix 8 hereto;
- Taxi badges of transport businesses in a province shall be subject to regulations adopted by the People's Committee of that province or shall be attached using the design given in the Appendix 8 hereto.
+ A specific badge must contain a QR code and have a size consistent with the design provided in the Appendix 8 hereto. If a local government prints and releases a badge itself, design of such badge shall be notified to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam before printing.
- The badge must be attached beneath the inspection stamp in the top right hand corner of the vehicle’s front windshield.

In which:
1. The border around the badge and the text “XE TAXI” (“TAXI”) must be reflective.
2. Color of the badge must follow the CMYK color model.
+ Color of the text “XE TAXI” (“TAXI”): C: 0 M: 100 Y: 100 K: 0.
+ Surrounding border color: C: 0 M: 0 Y: 80 K: 0.
+ Background color: C: 0 M: 0 Y: 80 K: 0.
3. The text “XE TAXI” (“TAXI”) must be in UTM Helvetins font. The remaining texts must be in Arial font.
* Note: The Department of Transport shall affix its seal to the back of the badge it issued.
Note: “XE TAXI” (“TAXI”) badge according to Circular No. 12/2020/TT-BGTVT replaces the old one specified in Circular No. 63/2014/TT-BGTVT, which is officially applicable from July 15, 2020.
According to Article 28 of Decree No. 100/2019/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, a fine ranging from VND 3,000,000 to VND 4,000,000 shall be imposed upon an individual, from VND 6,000,000 to VND 8,000,000 upon an organization that operates taxis, contract-based passenger vehicles and vehicles providing tourism transportation whose 70% of total operational period in a month in a province (or central-affiliated city) without possessing the badges issued by Departments of Transports of corresponding province (or central-affiliated city).
