Camera violations are no longer an unfamiliar form of penalty for everyone participating in traffic in Vietnam. However, not everyone fully understands the regulations on camera violations. Below are the notable regulations on camera violations.
1. What is camera violation?
Camera violation is a form of penalty for traffic law violations on the road through a system of cameras installed on highways, certain intersections, and key traffic points that record traffic violations of drivers and transmit this information to the processing center.
Upon receiving the provided information and images, the center will print the images, retrieve information about the person and vehicle through the vehicle registration data. This helps to identify information such as the vehicle owner, address, and subsequently send notifications to the violators. Finally, the violators will be invited to the center for penalty processing.
Additionally, clause 11 Article 80 of the Decree 100/2019/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam on administrative penalties in the field of road and railway traffic, permits the authorities to use information and images obtained from audio-visual recording devices provided by individuals or organizations as a basis for identifying and detecting violations.
In summary, camera violation is the punishment of traffic violation after the violation has been committed for a period, rather than handling it directly at the violation site.

Case 3: If a black box with violation processing information appears, it indicates that the vehicle has not yet paid the camera violation and will be denied inspection.
