Which persons are given bonus points for high school graduation recognition in accordance with Vietnam’s regulation?

High school graduation exam is always an important exam to each student. Bonus points will help candidates increase their chances of being considered for high school graduation. Thus, which persons are given bonus points for high school graduation recognition in accordance with Vietnam’s regulation?

According to Circular No. 15/2020/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, the bonus points policy is applied to three groups of candidates, in which Group 1 consists of normal candidates with no bonus points; candidates in Group 2 and 3 shall receive the amount of bonus points. Thus, persons eligible for bonus points for high school graduation recognition including:

First: Candidates of Group 2 shall receive 0.25 point as bonus if they are one of the following subjects:

- Continuing education candidates who are war invalids, sick soldiers, those receiving the same benefits as war invalids, sick soldiers with the degree of impairment under 81%; (D2-TB2)

- Children of war invalids, sick soldiers; those who are receiving the same benefits as war invalids, sick soldiers with the degree of impairment under 81% , Hero of the People’s Armed Force, Hero of Labor; children of Vietnamese Heroic Mother, Hero of the People’s Armed Force, Hero of Labor; (D2-CAH)

- Ethnic minority candidates; (D2-TS2)

- Kinh ethnic people, foreigners who has registered of permanent residency for 3 years and above (up to the date of the exam) and live in: (D2-VS2)

+ Extremely disadvantaged communes, border communes, former revolution bases under the cover of program 135, extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal areas and islands;

+ Extremely disadvantaged communes in Zone I,II,III of mountainous areas and highlands specified in current regulation by the Committee of Ethnic Minority Affairs; study at high schools located outside the urban districts area of central-affiliated cities for at least two thirds of high school time;

- Those who are infected with dioxin, children of those infected with dioxin, children of revolutionary activists infected with chemical toxins, those who have deformities, malformations, working capacity loss as a result of exposing to chemical toxins certified by competent authorities; (D2-CHH)

- Continuing education candidates whose age is 35 and above at the time of the exam (D2-T35).

Second: Candidates of Group 3 shall receive 0.5 point as bonus if they are one of the following subjects:

- Minority ethnics people who live in extremely disadvantaged communes, border communes, former revolution bases under the cover of program 135, extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal areas and islands specified in current regulation by the Prime Minister; live in extremely disadvantaged communes in Zone I,II,III of mountainous areas and highlands specified in current regulation by the Committee of Ethnic Minority Affairs; study at high schools located outside the urban districts area of central-affiliated cities for at least two thirds of high school time; (D3-TS3)

- Continuing education candidates who are war invalids, sick soldiers; those who are receiving the same benefits as war invalids, sick soldiers with the degree of impairment from 81% and above; (D3-TB3)

- Children of war invalids, sick soldiers; those who are receiving the same benefits as war invalids, sick soldiers with the degree of impairment from 81% and above (D3-CLS).

Thus, the candidates of the above-mentioned subjects will be given bonus points for recognition in the high school graduation exam, concurrently, for candidates with many priority criteria, only the highest will be enjoyed. The calculation of high school graduation points is as follows:

- For Group 2 candidates:
