Vietnam: Solutions for students who cannot return to school in time due to Covid-19 epidemic (illustration)

According to the Official Dispatch, before the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, many students had to move to their localities of residence without returning to school in time to start the new school year.

In order to ensure the learning interests of students, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam proposed to the Chairman of the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities in Vietnam to direct the implementation of reception and create conditions for students to study at their residences due to the COVID-19 epidemic for the school year 2021-2022 as follows:

- Receiving and creating favorable conditions for students who wish to study at the school where they reside during the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control period, in accordance with the actual conditions of the locality and the school.

- Coordinating with localities and schools where students wish to move and study (in writing via email or e-office electronic document management system) to receive, arrange, and classify students correctly; supporting students to receive necessary learning conditions such as textbooks, study materials; creating the most favorable conditions for students to study according to the school's educational plan.

- Confirmation of students' training and learning results so that students can return to their old school to study after the time of the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, ensuring accuracy, fairness, transparency, and compliance with the regulations in Vietnam. 

- Transfering and re-accepting students together with their training and learning results (studied at the school of residence) when the student returns to his/her old school to study; supporting students and creating the most favorable conditions for students when they return to their old school to study according to the school's educational plan.

- For students who wish to apply for a transfer (or apply for a transfer after being accepted for a period of time at the school of their residence): facilitate the student's transfer to schools in an appropriate manner on the basis of ensuring regulations on student records when transferring schools, and at the same time ensuring strict implementation of regulations on prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic.
