The way to register for the high school graduation exam in 2023 follows the guidelines for organizing the annual high school graduation exam of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, in which:

- Those who have completed the high school program in the year holding the exam may register for the exam online or in person at the high school where they are in grade 12.

- Those who have completed the high school program but have not taken the high school graduation exam or have taken the exam but have not graduated from high school in previous years; those who have a high school diploma, those who already have an intermediate diploma; take the exam to get the results as a basis for enrollment registration and register to take the exam at a place (called the place of exam registration) prescribed by the Department of Education and Training.

Application for high school graduation exam in Vietnam 2023

(1) For a person who has completed the high school program in the year the exam is held, the application must include:

- 02 registration forms for the same contest;

- The original or a certified copy from the original or a copy issued from the original number or a copy enclosed with the original to compare (collectively, a copy) of high school transcripts or high school continuing education transcripts or test sheets of learners in the form of self-study for continuing education issued by the principal of the high school;

- Valid certificates to enjoy priority and incentive regimes (if any);

- Photo file (or 02 4x6 photos in case of direct registration) of citizenship, taken no more than 06 months before the application deadline.

(2) For those who have completed the high school program but have not taken the exam for high school graduation or have taken the exam but have not graduated from high school in previous years, in addition to the documents in Section 2.3.1, there are also:

- A certificate from the high school where the candidate is in grade 12 or where the candidate registers to take the test on academic ranking for students who have poor grades in academic performance prescribed at point b, clause 2, Article 12 of the Regulation on high school graduation exam promulgated together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT dated May 26, 2020;

- A copy of the junior high school diploma;

- Certificate of reservation score (if any) certified by the principal of the high school where the candidate took the exam last year.

(3) For candidates who have graduated from high school, the exam registration documents include:

- 02 registration forms for the same contest;

- High school diploma (copy);

- 02 photos of size 4x6 cm;

(4) For candidates who have graduated from high school, the application for registration includes:

- 02 registration forms for the same contest;

- 02 photos of size 4x6 cm;

- A copy of the lower secondary school diploma, a copy of the intermediate diploma, and a copy of the study book or transcript of high school cultural subjects as prescribed by the Education Law and current guiding documents of the Ministry of Education and Training.

When the deadline for submitting the application form has expired, if there is any mistake or error, the candidate must promptly notify the principal of the high school, the head of the unit where the test is registered, or the head of the test site on the day of application procedures for corrections and additions.

Eligibility requirements for high school graduation exam in Vietnam 2023

- Students who have finished the high school program in the year of exam must also meet the requirements that in 12th grade their conduct must be classified as Average and above and academic performance must not be classified as Poor. The classification of conduct is not required for continuing education learners in guided self-study mode and learners with no requirements of conduct classification;

- Those who had finished the high school program but have yet taken or did not pass the high school graduation exams of previous years must obtain lower secondary graduation diplomas and also meet the requirements that in 12th grade their conduct must be classified as Average and above and academic performance must not be classified as Poor.

A person who was disqualified from the previous year’s high school graduation exam due to poor academic performance in grade 12 must take the final exam for any subjects with GPA below 5.0 (at the school in which they were in 12th grade or at the school registered for the exam) and the new GPA meets academic performance requirement as prescribed.

A person who was disqualified from the previous year’s high school graduation exam due to poor conduct in grade 12 must obtain the confirmation of their compliance with local regulations and legal policies from the commune-level People’s Committee so that the high school where they were in grade 12 confirms their eligibility in terms of conduct according to regulations;

- Those who obtain high school graduation diplomas or Diploma Level 4 of VQF/ Intermediate Professional Education Diploma now take the exam as the basis for university and college admission; must have studied and passed a given number of high school academic subjects as per the Education Law and its existing guiding documents of the MOET;

- Candidates must register for the exam and submit all required documents in due time.
