Official Dispatch 5555/BGDDT-GDTrH guiding professional activities on innovation of teaching methods and assessment; organizing and managing online professional activities of secondary schools/continuing education centers in Vietnam was issued on October 08, 2014.

Official Dispatch 5555/BGDDT-GDTrH was issued to enhance the quality of professional activities in secondary schools and Continuing Education Centers, focusing on innovating teaching methods and assessment according to the orientation of developing students' competencies.

In the Official Dispatch, it is specified the mandatory tasks to be carried out in professional activities regarding innovating teaching and assessment methods, including:

Developing teaching topics:

- Developing teaching topics in each subject, integrated topics, interdisciplinary topics, and subject teaching plans must contribute to achieving the objectives of the general education curriculum, suit the actual conditions of the school, locality, and learning capability of students;

- The teaching plan of the professional team/group and teachers must be approved by the school leadership before implementation and will serve as a basis for inspection and evaluation;

Professional team/group activities:

- Professional team/group activities in secondary schools and Continuing Education centers, and managing professional activities online must be carried out seriously, bringing practical efficiency.

- Each teacher must have one account to participate in online training, retraining, and professional activities.

- Each professional team/group in secondary schools and Continuing Education centers must develop at least two teaching topics per semester;

- Organizing trial teaching sessions to observe, analyze, draw experiences, and submit the results through the online forum.

Other contents of professional team/group activities must be fully implemented in accordance with current regulations.

To effectively implement the above regulations, team/group leaders leading professional teams/groups participating in online courses/lessons/topics must:

- Register to participate in courses/lessons/topics and require members of the professional team/group to participate forming one professional activity group on the system.

- Organize discussions within the professional team/group (directly and online) to perform the assigned tasks in the courses/lessons/topics; unify opinions and complete the report on the performance of the team/group tasks.

- Submit the report of the team/group task performance online as regulated.

In addition, teachers must directly participate in performing professional tasks in the courses/lessons/topics, specifically:

- During the performance of assigned tasks, teachers can refer to electronic materials online and/or traditional materials; exchange documents and discuss with members of the professional team/group (directly and online); discuss with instructors/organizers on related issues.

- Teachers can be authorized to provide accounts for students; develop online courses/lessons; organize, manage, and support students in performing learning activities online in the form of “creative experiential activities.”
