History as a compulsory subject with 52 sessions per year for high school in Vietnam

According to the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, history will become a compulsory subject with 52 periods per year for high school curriculum.

History as a compulsory subject with 52 sessions per year for high school in Vietnam

Plan 770/KH-BGDĐT issued on July 11, 2022 stipulates the implementation of History subject in the 2018 General Education Program.

Specifically, implementing the construction, selection, adjustment, and appraisal of the compulsory high school history program with 52 sessions/school year (grade 10, 11, and 12) to apply history as a compulsory subject for all students.

In addition, the Ministry of Vietnam will also amend Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDĐT on the 2018 General Education Program according to the shortened order and procedures;

At the same time, organizing a workshop to ask for opinions from organizations, scientists, and teachers about the compulsory part of the High School History Program with 52 sessions/year;

Preparing, evaluating, and training materials for the implementation of the Compulsory History Program;

Organizing training for key managers and teachers of the Departments of Education and Training (01 specialist, 02 teachers) on the Compulsory History Program of Vietnam.

The training is in the form of face-to-face (3 days/session) and takes place in 03 locations and areas as follows:

+ Northern provinces of Vietnam;

+ The Central and Central Highlands provinces of Vietnam;

+ Southern provinces of Vietnam.
