Hello LawNet! How do I know how to grade students at the end of the semester or at the end of the year? If my Mathematics and Literature scores are below 6.5 but above 5.0, am I a rather good or medium student?
Specifically, I am a secondary school student, my average score in all subjects is 7.1, all subjects are above 5.0 and Pass. In which, only English is 7.8, but Mathematics 5.6 and Literature 5.8, so am I classified as a rather good student this semester? Hope LAWNET can help me, thank you.
LAWNET would like to answer as follows:
The classification of students' academic performance of middle and high schools is specified at the Circular No. 58/2011/TT-BGDĐT (amended by the Circular No. 26/2020/TT-BGDĐT), according to which, the grading criteria for good, rather good, medium, weak and poor are as follows:
1. Criteria for grading good
- Grade point average of the subjects from 8.0 points or more in which average point of one of two subjects Mathematics, Literature shall be from 8.0 or more; separately for students of specialized classes of specialized high schools, it is required to add condition of average point of the specialized subject from 8.0 or more;
- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 6.5;
- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.
2. Criteria for grading rather good
- Grade point average of the subjects from 6.5 points or more in which average point of one of two subjects Mathematics, Literature shall be from 6.5 or more; separately for students of specialized classes of specialized high schools, it is required to add condition of average point of the specialized subject from 6.5 or more;
- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 5.0;
- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.
3. Criteria for grading medium
- Grade point average of the subjects from 5.0 points or more in which average point of one of two subjects Mathematics, Literature shall be from 5.0 or more; separately for students of specialized classes of specialized high schools, it is required to add condition of average point of the specialized subject from 5.0 or more;
- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 3.5;
- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.
4. Weak grade
Grade point average of the subjects from 3.5 points or more, there are no subjects that grade point average is below 2.0.
5. Poor grade
The remaining cases.
Compared with the above regulations, the average score of your subjects is 7.1 (satisfying the condition that the GPA of all subjects is 6.5 or higher); English subject is 7.8 (satisfying the condition that the average score of 1 in 3 subjects of Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Language from 6.5 or higher); there are no subjects below 5.0 and the subjects assessed by comments are grade S. Thus, if you do not attend a specialized school, you already have all the criteria to be classified as a rather good student.
Note: If you go to a specialized school, your subject score must be 6.5 or higher to qualify for the classification of a rather good student.
