Vietnam: Measures to support 22 poor districts in 17 provinces to escape poverty in the period of 2022-2025

The Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 880/QD-TTg dated 22/7/2022 on the approval of the measures to support 22 poor districts in 17 province to escape poverty, extremely disadvantageous conditions in the period of 2022-2025.

Specifically, the Prime Minister of Vietnam set out a number of measures to support 22 poor districts in 17 provinces to escape poverty and extremely disadvantageous conditions as follows:

- Propaganda and advocacy:

+ Promote communication, raise awareness of all levels and sectors on prioritizing concentration and integrating resources to support poor districts.

+ Improve communication, dissemination, and guidance for the effective implementation of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in poor districts from 2021 to 2025 in Vietnam.

- Prioritize the integration of poverty reduction projects in order to create livelihoods, jobs, and raise incomes for people:

+ Implement poverty reduction projects for poor households, near-poverty households, households newly escaping from poverty, and people living in poor districts according to production organization models (enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, groups of households, and communities) in accordance with the characteristics of the local situation.

+ Poverty reduction projects should focus on linking with market demand, promoting local advantages, producing local specialty products, and having a roadmap to build product brands.

+ Vocational skills training for workers must be associated with enterprises, the labor market, and creating sustainable jobs.

+ Support successful job connections for workers in need.

- Mobilize resources:

+ Mobilize resources from businesses, people, and communities to contribute in money, property, in kind, or labor days on a voluntary basis.

+ Encourage localities to apply the form of public employment to create conditions for people to have more income when participating in construction work in poor districts.

+ Other lawfully mobilized capital.

10. Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province;

12. Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province;

13. Thuong Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province;

14. Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa province;
