How to look up enterprise information in Vietnam

1. What is an enterprise?

According to Clause 10, Article 4 of the Law on Enterprise 2020, “enterprise” means an organization that has a proper name, assets, premises, is established or registered in accordance with law for business purposes.

2. Regulations on provision of enterprise registration information in Vietnam

Regulations on the right to be provided with enterprise information under Article 33 of the Law on Enterprise 2020 are as follows:

- Organizations and individuals are entitled to request business registration authorities to provide information on the National Enterprise Registration Information System and pay fees.

-  Business registration authorities shall fully and promptly provide information as prescribed.

In addition, according to Article 36 of Decree 01/2021/ND-CP and Article 5 of Circular 01/2021/TT-BKHDT in the following forms:

- The following information shall be available and provided free of charge on the National Business Registration Portal at https://dangkykinhdoanh.gov.vn, including: the enterprise's name, enterprise ID number, headquarters address, business lines, full name of the legal representative, and legal status of the enterprise.

- Entities may request for the information prescribed in Clause 1 Article 33 of the Law on Enterprise 2020 at the Ministry of Planning and Investment (through the Business Registration Supporting Center affiliated to the Agency for Business Registration) or at the business registration office of province where the enterprise is headquartered or through the National Business Registration Portal, and must pay fees as prescribed.

The Business Registration Supporting Center shall have the power to provide information of all enterprises stored in the National Enterprise Registration Information System. Business registration offices shall provide information about enterprises stored in the National Enterprise Registration Database within their jurisdiction.

Fees for provision of information shall be paid in accordance with regulations of law.

3. How to look up enterprise information in Vietnam

3.1. Look up enterprise information on the National enterprise Registration Portal of Vietnam

Step 1: Access the National enterprise Registration Portal at the following address: https://dangkytinhdoanh.gov.vn

Step 2: Enter your tax code/enterprise number or enterprise name in the search box at the top left corner and then click the search button

Step 3: After clicking the search button, results will appear containing the enterprise name to be searched.

If you search by tax code/enterprise code, the exact results will be displayed for the enterprise you are looking for.

In case of searching by name, the displayed results will be enterprisees with the same or similar name. Searchers click on the enterprise they're looking for to see detailed information.

The results displayed on the National enterprise Registration Portal page will include the following information:

- Company's name; enterprise name written in foreign language; Abbreviated enterprise name;

- Operational status;

- Enterprise code;

- Legal type;

- Date of commencement of establishment;

- Name of the legal representative;

- Address of the head office;

- Business lines according to the Vietnam Economic Sector System.

3.2. Look up enterprise information by sending an official dispatch to the business registration office

According to Article 5 of Circular 01/2021/TT-BKHDT, entities may request for the information prescribed in Clause 1 Article 33 of the Law on Enterprise 2020 at the business registration office of province where the enterprise is headquartered, and must pay fees as prescribed.

Thu, if an individual or organization needs to look up enterprise information, they can send an application (for individuals) or a dispatch (for organizations). It clearly states important information such as: the enterprise wants to be provided with information, the reason for providing it, the information to be provided...

If approved, the enterprise registration agency will reply in writing with the information the enterprise needs to provide.

3.3. Other ways to look up enterprise information

- Look up enterprise information on the website of the General Department of Taxation;

- Look up information of foreign enterprises on the web portal of the local Department of Industry and Trade.
