According to Circular 17/2016/TT-BQP guiding the recruitment work for Military schools, in addition to the standards of politics, ethics, culture, and age, candidates must also meet health standards.
To be specific:
- Candidates (both male and female) meeting health criteria classified as type 1 and type 2 in the following categories: Internal medicine, neurology, surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dentistry, chest circumference.
Additionally, there are some specific standards:
- Males with a height of 1.65m or more and a weight of 50kg or more for officer training schools in command, politics, logistics, including the academies: Logistics, Air Defense - Air Force, Navy, Border Defense and officer schools: Infantry 1, 2, Politics, Artillery, Engineering, Armored, Communications, Special Forces, Chemical Defense.
- For schools that train specialist technical officers, including the academies: Military Technical, Military Medicine, Military Science, Military Arts and Culture University, Aviation Training System within the Air Defense - Air Force Academy, and Military Technical Officer Training School:
+ Males with a height of 1.63m or more and a weight of 50kg or more, females must achieve health type 1, with a height of 1.54m or more and a weight of 48kg or more.
+ Candidates (both male and female) with refractive errors such as myopia or hyperopia not exceeding 3 diopters are accepted, with visual acuity through glasses achieving 10/10 in the right eye, and a total visual acuity of both eyes reaching 19/10 or more.
- Candidates with permanent household registration for 3 years or more in area 1, islands, and ethnic minority candidates applying for schools: Health type 2 for physical examination (both male and female) is acceptable, but male candidates must have a height of 1.62m or more.
Male ethnic minority candidates applying for the Political Officer School: Height requirement is reduced to 1.60m or more (other standards are implemented according to regulations).
- Candidates training for officers of various military branches and units: Health standards according to specific criteria must still meet general standards.
Pilot and paratrooper officer recruitment at the Air Force Officer School: Only candidates who have been health-checked and deemed eligible by the Air Defense - Air Force Command will be selected.
Circular 17/2016/TT-BQP takes effect from May 01, 2016, and replaces Circular 03/2014/TT-BQP and Circular 10/2015/TT-BQP.
