When is Vietnam Consumer Rights Day?

The Prime Minister issued Decision 1035/QD-TTg in 2015 on Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day.

Thus, March 15 every year is set as Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day.

What is the purpose of Vietnam Consumer Rights Day?

Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day is held annually to:

- Affirm the role, position, and importance of protecting consumer rights for the stable and sustainable development of society and the country.

- Propagate, educate, and disseminate laws and policies on protecting consumer rights. Create a basis to mobilize and focus the attention, response, and participation of the entire society in protecting consumer rights.

- Contribute to building a healthy consumption environment for both consumers and organizations and individuals trading in goods and services; maintain stability; and create motivation for development, innovation, and creativity for the country's economy.

- Enhance responsibility and encourage cooperation and coordination between state management agencies and social organizations involved in protecting the rights of consumers, organizations, and individuals trading in goods and services in carrying out activities to protect consumer rights.

Organization of activities to respond to Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day 2024

The Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Plan 6022/KH-BCT on August 31, 2023, on organizing activities to respond to Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day 2024.

1. Purpose and requirements

1.1. Activities in response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2024 are organized to call, motivate, and encourage the participation of state agencies, social organizations, businesses, and consumers in related activities; Step by step, make Consumer Rights Day an important driving force and highlight in socio-economic life, contributing to building a healthy business and consumption environment for the country.

1.2. Response activities need to be organized and carried out in a practical, effective, creative, and economical manner, enhancing the application of information technology and ensuring goals and requirements in Decision 1035/QD-TTg in 2015 on Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day.

2. Implementation time

Activities for consumer rights are encouraged to be organized and implemented throughout 2024, focusing on peak business and consumption periods such as: New Year, Lunar New Year, shopping seasons, or peak shopping days in the market.

Activities to respond to Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day will start in the 2023 year-end shopping season (November), be concentrated in March (peak month), and last throughout 2024, depending on the practical situation at agencies, organizations, and localities.

3. Theme

The theme for Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2024 activities is: "Transparent information - Safe consumption". At the same time, in the process of implementing activities, it is necessary to combine and integrate with activities implementing Resolution 82/NQ-CP of the Government in 2020 on promulgating the Government's Action Program to implement Directive 30-CT/TW in 2019 of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership and the State's management responsibility for the protection of consumer rights.
