On November 3, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch 6133/BGDDT-QLCL on organizing the National High School Student Selection Exam for the 2023–2024 school year.
When does the national high school exam for excellent students in the 2023–2024 school year take place?
Specifically, the exam schedule to select national excellent high school students for the 2023–2024 school year is set by the Ministry of Education and Training as follows:
- January 5, 2024: Written exams in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and computer programming exam in Informatics.
- January 6, 2024: Written exam in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology; Speaking test in English, Russian, French, Chinese and computer programming test in Informatics.
- Circumcision exam time in the exam room: 7:50 a.m. Start time of each exam session: 8:00 a.m.

Candidates participating in the national high school excellent student exam for the 2023–2024 school year must ensure they fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Be present at the exam location on the prescribed date and time. Candidates who arrive late after the exam time will not be allowed to take the exam.
- Present your Admission Card (for the national excellent student exam) or Citizen ID (for the Olympic team selection exam) before entering the exam room.
- Sit in the correct seat according to the prescribed registration number in the exam room; sign the list of candidates participating in each exam session.
- Only documents and items specified in Article 23 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT may be brought into the exam room. Do not bring into the exam room: Carbon paper, eraser pens, alcoholic beverages; explosive and incendiary weapons and substances; Documents, communication devices, or information containing information that can be used to cheat during the test-taking and marking process.
- When receiving the exam question paper, you must check the page number of the paper and write the registration number on the paper. If you find that the exam paper is missing pages or is torn, damaged, blurred, or otherwise damaged, you must notify the examiner in the exam room no later than 10 minutes from the time the test begins.
- While in the exam room, order must be maintained; Do not exchange, discuss, or copy exam papers; When you want to have an opinion, you must raise your hand to ask for permission and can only express your opinion when the examiner in the exam room allows it; You are not allowed to leave the exam room during the exam.
In case of necessity, you can only leave the exam room with the permission of the invigilator and must be supervised by the invigilator outside the exam room; Candidates leaving the exam room or exam area in case of emergency must be supervised by the police until the end of the exam time and decided by the Chairman of the Exam Council. Report to the responsible person if cheating is detected during the exam.
- The exam must be written with one type of pen and one type of ink; Do not write in red ink or pencil (except when drawing a circle with a compass); Do not mark or make separate symbols in the test; Broken writing must be crossed out and must not be erased in any way.
- Informatics candidates take the test and record it on the computer's hard drive; All sealed positions on the computer must be kept sealed until the end of the exam. In the case of taking the test on a computer connected to a local/internal network, candidates must follow the Test Organization Instructions.
- When there is an end-of-test signal:
+ For the written exam: All candidates must stop writing immediately to submit the exam; Clearly state the number of exam papers submitted and sign the exam receipt (including cases where the exam cannot be completed);
+ For the Computer Science exam: All candidates must immediately turn off the computer screen. When the examiner gives permission, the candidate can turn on the computer screen again and unseal the CD drive to burn the work onto a CD; Next, the candidate witnessed the examiner printing his/her test from CD to paper; Candidates sign the CD and printed paper. In case of taking the exam on a computer connected to a local/internal network, candidates must follow the Exam Organization Instructions;
+ For the speaking test of Foreign Language subjects in the national excellent student selection exam and the practical exam of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects in the Olympic team selection exam: Candidates must follow the Exam Organization Instructions.
- After the exam time ends, candidates can only leave the exam room when the invigilator in the exam room gives permission.
- Candidates are responsible for preserving their exam questions throughout the time from the time they receive the exam questions until the end of the exam time.
