What types of agricultural cooperatives are there?

On April 17, 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Circular 09/2017/TT-BNNPTNT providing guidelines for the classification and evaluation of cooperatives operating in the field of agriculture.

According to Circular 09, agricultural cooperatives are classified into the following 07 types:

- Plant Cultivation Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in crop production and related crop services; post-harvest services; seed treatment for breeding purposes.- Livestock Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in livestock production; related livestock services; hunting, trapping, and related service activities.- Forestry Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in forestry production and related forestry services.- Aquaculture Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in aquaculture; fishing activities.- Salt Production Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in salt extraction and related services supporting salt extraction.- Rural Clean Water Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in the extraction, treatment, and supply of clean water for domestic needs in rural areas.- Comprehensive Agricultural Cooperative: A cooperative engaged in activities from two or more areas of the above-mentioned cooperatives.
