What technical requirements must automobile light alloy wheels meet?

Recently, the Minister of Transport officially approved Circular 25/2014/TT-BGTVT promulgating the National Technical Regulation on Light Alloy Rims for Cars.

General technical requirements for new aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy wheel rims (collectively referred to as light alloy wheel rims), used for the purpose of installation on vehicles or as replacement rims for motor vehicles classified under passenger cars (Group M1), and light commercial vehicles with a total weight not exceeding 3.5 tons (Group N1) as stipulated in Circular 25/2014/TT-BGTVT are as follows:

- The type of rim must conform to the technical documentation of that rim.- The dimensions of the rim profile and valve hole dimensions must conform to the technical documentation of the tested rim.- Light alloy wheel rims that show signs of structural failure during production shall not be repaired in any way and must be discarded.- The diameter of the rim shall not deviate more than 1.2 mm from the nominal diameter.- Rim surface

The rim surface must meet the following requirements:

- The machined surface of the rim must not have visible cracks, fractures, or other defects;- The surface of the rim at the tire contact area must have a roughness (Ra) not exceeding 3.2 mm, and the surface must be machined before the tire is installed on the rim. The inner corners and outer edges of the rim must not have sharp edges. The valve hole edge must also not have sharp edges. The rim surface at the tire installation area and the valve hole walls must be structured or surfaced in such a way that they do not adversely affect the performance of the tire, tube, and valve.
